Asides being born Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan, in 1991 in Benin, Nigeria, and the fact that she joined music early in Life, not much is really known about the roots of the Nigerian Reggae Dancehall Queen, who captivated Africa with her unique patois/dancehall style.
Known to have worked with industry bigwigs in the years leading to her entry into mainstream music, Cynthia had her much much deserved breakout in 2013 after signing a deal with Jude “Engees” Okoye’s North side Inc and dropping two chart topping singles “Don’t Break My Heart” and ” Lead me On” which certified her entry into mainstream music.
However, after many hit singles, A-list collaborations and anticipation from fans, it is worrisome that Cynthia is yet to have an album considering even later entrants have albums already. Given the recent public image associated with the Okoye brothers, some might blame the record label for the artiste’s inconsistency but looking at a different picture, not much is really known about Cynthia, even her wikipedia page doesn’t have much information except her discography.
Famously managed by Joy Tongo, she maintains a low profile, except for the occasional lashing out, other than that, she seems to be a very private person as she is rarely seen at public functions, has no set of industry friends or associates.
She might easily be considered Africa’s Adele, since last year, blogs and news outlets have been screaming out “Where is Cynthia Morgan?” whereas the big question should be “Who is Cynthia Morgan?”
