Year 2017 has finally come to an end, it’s time for year 2018 that’s full of greatness and prosperity.
365 days may seem so long, but it’s quite short, by the time we all start to map out our plans for 2018 and working towards them, we’ll realise 365 days is not as long as it appears, yet enough for us to achieve whatsoever we want.
How are you planning on living your 2018? Are you improving on your life or setting new standards and having a fresh start? Whatever your plans are, make sure you don’t play yourself. “Don’t play yourself,” I repeat.
“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language. And this year’s words await another voice.” – T.S. Eliot.
A new phase of life will always require a new you to have new accomplishment(s), if you want to grow, you have to make time to evaluate the time gone by, what are the things you’ll need to do differently? What are the things you’ll need to keep doing? If you want a better tomorrow – one with new possibilities and new dreams to fulfill, you need to let all the disappointments of 2017 stay in 2017 – they are gone.
Set out in 2018 in enthusiasm, optimism and high-spirt, tell yourself 2018, “I’m here for you and I’ll achieve!”
“Live in reality, be true to yourself.” – Yo!
This is very hard for some of us to do, but there’s nothing like inner peace, can one live a fake life and still have inner peace? All the fake lives you lived in 2017, where have they gotten you? If you want a real change, you need to stop faking it.
Faking it is almost everywhere and backed up by different reasons, however when you keep faking it because you have the talent and you feel you can fool others and pretend a life you cannot acquire until you acquire it, you’re playing yourself!
Faking it leaves out the most important part of being an achiever, which is ‘Effort’. You may have the talent in the field you are, but faking it will make you leave out the real effort of becoming a better person, it will mostly make people change their perception about you that you don’t need support or help to grow, whereas you need.
Talent backed up by effort will give you the skill you need to move on, while skill plus effort will give you the achievement you want. If you’re busy trying to fake something, what you’re not doing is expending the effort to learn that skill. Which means you’re holding yourself back and working at a pace that’s not comfortable for you. Why not invest your time and energy to become a better person? Analyze your strengths and weaknesses, be less egocentric and ask for help whenever you need one.
You’re the best version of you, stop imitating what you’re not. If you cannot do without faking it, get a mentor instead, but who will mentor a fake person?
“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals.” – Melody Beattie
You have to start working on your plans, no matter what – ‘Just do it’, conquer the fear and keep pursuing your dreams. Success in life is not determined by how fast or slow you run, life isn’t a race, success is determined by how you get to your destination, it requires no shortcut and no negative competition.
Work at your own pace, don’t be pressurized, move at a pace that’s comfortable for you to accomplish your plans, there’s nothing you cannot achieve provided you continue doing what you love to do, with passion and at your own pace. There’s no reason to rush into what you’re not ready or capable of yet.
Don’t lie to yourself, because others have achieved so much is not a reason you should rush yourself, life’s timing is never going to be equal, just as our fingers will never be equal.
Take a leap of faith, begin this new year by believing in yourself and DON’T PLAY YOURSELF.
Have a prosperous year 2018.
