Views Beats Eminem’s Billboard Status For Rap Album With Most Week At No 1

Drake’s latest album Views continues to do ridiculous numbers as it has topped the Billboard 200 for the ninth straight week. That mark pushes it past Eminem’s 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP which previously held third place with eight weeks in pole position. Can Drizzy reach the top spot?

It’s possible, but it would be a huge feat. Vanilla Ice’s To The Extreme sits in the second spot after holding down numero uno for 16 weeks when it dropped back in 1990, powered by the hit single “Ice Ice Baby.” The record holder is even further out in the stratosphere. MC Hammer’s 1990 album Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em was No. 1 on Billboard for a whopping 21 weeks straight.

Having dropped on April 29, Views has already been certified double-platinum by the RIAA and has been streamed over 1 billion times. The single “One Dance” has been the album’s big pull. Shortly after its release, the track became Drizzy’s first No.1 song on Billboard as a lead artist in both the United States and his native Canada.

The RIAA certified platinum single broke Adele’s U.K streaming record for spins in a seven day period surpassing the singer’s mega hit “Hello.”
Drake’s win streak continues in another Billboard ranking.

Last week, the 6 God claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Artist 100 list for the 14th time. In doing so, 6 god Drake ties Taylor Swift’s record for most total weeks atop the chart. The Billboard Artist 100 list combines artists’ scores from the publication’s most important charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Top Album Sales and the Social 50.
