'Today's Artistes Are Afraid Of Singing Reality' -Ace Reggae Singer, Ras Kimono

One of the foremost Nigerian reggae singers, Ras Kimono has commented on the quality of songs dished out by the ‘new crop of artistes’ in Nigeria.

Legendary Ras Kimono who’s 2010 single, Rumbar Stylee is still fresh in our memories expressed his displeasure about what Nigerian artistes of today sings while speaking to the media.

Vetting his anger, he said;

“None of the new crop of artistes now are doing real reggae. They are afraid to sing reality. They’re all about bum-bum and such mundane things.

They’re all singing about foolishness and nothingness. Look at what is happening in the country today; the president is also doubling as the Minister for Petroleum, and nobody is talking about it. I’m angry.”

The issue of weak lyrical content in today’s music has created heated arguments among music critics, lovers and fans.
