After much speculation, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finally released a 35-man Olympic squad that will take part in the final phase of training in the United States, ahead of the Olympics in Brazil.

Among the 35 are Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi and Watford hotshot Odion Ighalo, with Super Eagles defender Godfrey Ogboabona and goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi completing the cast of overage players that will vie for the three allowed slots.

Despite uncertainty over their availability for the event which lies outside of Fifa’s calendar, Manchester City and Arsenal starlets Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi also made the cut.

Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia  has smartly demanded a final training camp in Atlanta, venue of Nigeria’s historic Olympic triumph 20 years ago, so as to be able to “psychologically prepare my boys for victory in Brazil,” Goal writes.

The NFF earlier in the week confirmed a friendly match between Nigeria and Mexico U23 team for Saturday, July 2 at the Aguascalientes Stadium, with further matches lined up against Charleston Battery FC and the Honduras U23 team.

Other players added to strengthen the team following their poor showing at the Suwon Invitational Tournament include Haugesund defender William Troost-Ekong and Kenneth Omeruo.

Oghenekaro Etebo also made the cut while reigning Africa Youth Player of the Year Victor Osimhen was left out as a result of his commitment to the U20 side.
